
The Simcoe-Muskoka District Health Unit is reporting another seven confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the region. The total is now at 52 with another two pending.
The confirmed cases include the first youth, a female teen from Barrie who got the virus from close contact.
There is also the first case from Wasaga beach, a woman in her 60’s who had travelled to Australia.
The other new cases are a man in his 40’s from Innisfil, a woman in her 20’s from New Tecumseth, a man in his 50’s from Barrie, a woman in her 60’s from Tiny, a woman in her 30’s from Essa and the 8th case is pending which means the information hasn’t been processed and released yet.
The local health unit also says the new assessment centres in Bracebridge and Huntsville are opening today, a day earlier than planned.
Patient access to the centres is by appointment only Monday through Friday, by referral from a health care provider and are not open for walk-in visits.
The centres are located in Bracebridge at the Rotary Centre for Youth at 131 Wellington Street and in Huntsville at Building B of the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital campus, located on the right-hand side of 100 Frank Miller Drive, as you approach the hospital behind the Howland Building.
In Ontario, there are 260 new cases bringing the total to 1966 and at least 27 deaths.
