The Saugeen River will soon receive some North American exposure.
The popular New Fly Fisher television program will tape an episode on the Saugeen River just north of Walkerton.
Mayor David Inglis tells Bayshore Broadcasting News it will provide Brockton with positive tourism exposure.
Brockton has contributed 15 hundred dollars towards the venture.
In return, the Fly Fisher episode will include shots of Walkerton’s downtown as well as other community highlights — such as local golf courses and bed and breakfasts.
Inglis says they will also get a copy of the taping to use for marketing purposes.
Inglis calls the 15 hundred dollars a wise investment for this type of national and international exposure.
The New Fly Fisher program has been around for 10 years — and appears on over 100 television stations — reaching more than 70 million households.
It can be found on networks such as PBS, The World Fishing Network, NESN and a host of smaller networks throughout Canada, the USA and overseas.
Taping on the Saugeen River will take place over the last two weeks of August.
