Work is underway to remove all of the remaining asbestos within the Hanover and District Hospital.
CEO Katrina Wilson says the Hospital has been removing the asbestos in phases and the work began last year.
A 68 thousand dollar Health Infrastructure Renewal grant is covering the latest cost.
Wilson says the asbestos removal will not interfere with patient care or cause any health concerns.
Wilson adds the asbestos removal is being conducted by professionals contracted by the hospital.
Maintenance staff have also received specialized training and are able to remove some of the less hazardous asbestos materials.
This will be an ongoing process.
Wilson adds the important thing is that the asbestos is handled safely and professionally.
Most of the asbestos being removed is around piping within the hospital.
