The Bruce Grey Catholic School Board is one of 32 school boards in the province to participate in a new pilot project.
Grade 7 to 10 students can receive free online math tutoring.
Superintendent of Education Jerry Casey calls it a great tool for students struggling with math homework.
Under the program — students will be given a log in number and password that will provide them will online help in a tutor chat room.
These chat rooms will operate Sunday to Thursday from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM.
Casey feels it’s a great way to utilize technology to assist students with their learning.
Along with the online help, the program has also provided the Catholic School Board with a 100 thousand dollar grant to implement the new initiative.
This includes the cost of hiring a teacher to serve as the e-Learning Contact person.
Their responsibilities include preparing students and staff for the online service as well as submitting status reports to the Ministry of Education.
