Runners, walkers, cyclists and in-line skaters will all be on the move for a good cause.
It’s the 22nd annual Rotary Huron Shore Run in Saugeen Shores.
Volunteer Brian Vaughn says the event is hosted by the Southampton and Port Elgin Rotary clubs with assistance from the Saugeen Track Club and the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation.
Vaughn says the only competitive event is the Class “A” 5 or 10K run, although runners can choose not to compete as well.
There’s also non-competitive events such as the 3 and 5K walks; a 10k bike ride and a 10k in-line skate route.
The cycle event starts just after 9 AM and the others start at 10 AM.
Registration begins Friday at 7 PM at the Rotary Scout Hall on Grey Street or you can register Saturday at 8 AM at the Walker House in Southampton.
Rotarian John Van Bastelaar says last year they raised around 25 thousand dollars and although they don’t set a goal, they always like to better the tally from the year before.
He says the money raised will be split between the two Rotary clubs, the track club and the hospital foundation.
All money will stay in the community for the various projects each group provides.
Saturday’s event goes rain or shine.
