If you are one of Grey Bruce’s estimated 43 hundred problem gamblers — and you visit Hanover Slots tonight or tomorrow — you will see officials from the Responsible Gambling Council there as well.
They will be at the slots facility to talk to people about the early warning signs that show gambling could be getting out of hand.
CEO of the Council, Jon Kelly says they used to do these information sessions at shopping malls across the province, but then it was suggested if you want to get the message out about problem gambling, go to the facilities themselves.
Kelly says there are a number of warning signs people should be looking out for that might indicate they are becoming a problem gambler.
He says some of the most common signs were spending more on gambling that intended, losing track of time while gambling, trying to win back gambling money and using funds for essentials for gambling.
Kelly says they will be at the Hanover slot facility tonight from 6 PM until 9 PM and Friday from 5 PM until 9 PM to provide people with the warning signs of problem gambling.
He says there are there to provide information not to consul people with a problem.
Kelly says if someone has a gambling problem, then agencies like New Directions in Owen Sound is better equipped to help people deal with their problem.
