A national fast food chain is coming to Collingwood after a bit of a bumpy road.
A & W has been given the go ahead to set up shop on Balsam Street in the old Williams Coffee Pub near the movie theatre.
But the architect had to go back to the drawing board first.
Council wanted to make sure the restaurant conformed to the heritage guidelines and a uniform look for the west end of town.
Robert Ritz of R. Ritz Architects says he understands the town’s view, but on the other hand A & W needs to maintain its corporate logo and colours or the company would pull out of Collingwood.
Ritz says some changes were made so the windows and bricking on the sides of the building will be similar to the new library and the signature orange has been muted.
Ritz says he expects to get the permit this week and have the building ready to open in about three months.
