The Saugeen Shores Relay for Life has 36 teams signed up and more are expected.
A lot of new teams are expected to sign up on Saturday during the relay’s all day registration and information meeting.
Relay co-chair Nancy MacLeod says volunteers will be on hand from 10 AM to 4 PM at the Community Room at Legault’s Independent Grocer.
MacLeod says besides registration forms and general information on the event, luminaries to honour a loved one will be on sale as well for five-dollars each.
She says she’s hoping survivors of cancer, who kick off the relay in an emotional walk around the track will show up.
MacLeod says they’re in need of more survivors for the event and they need a lot of general volunteers as well.
The Relay for Life in Saugeen Shores takes place on July 9th behind Saugeen District Secondary School.
Organizers are hoping to raise close to 200 thousand dollars.
Last year they raised 176 thousand dollars for cancer research and for local cancer patient programs.
