Huron Bruce MP Ben Lobb says bring it on.
Lobb says he will have no problem with an audit from Auditor General of Canada Sheila Fraser, if she gets approval to look at the Board of Internal Economy books.
Lobb says right now the board is working with the auditor general getting terms of reference for any investigation.
There have been suggestions that the over half-a-billion-dollars being spent but not audited is outside Fraser’s realm of responsibility.
Lobb says any audit will show that he spent approximately 260 thousand dollars, keeping three offices in Port Elgin, Goderich and Ottawa operating.
He says he had approximately 308 thousand dollars to play with but came in well under budget in the last fiscal year.
Lobb says the money that was spent covers salaries and benefits for all staff along with all the expenses incurred by operating constituency offices.
The Board of Internal Economy is the governing body of the House of Commons.
Under the Parliament of Canada Act, the Board has the legal authority to act on all financial and administrative matters respecting the House of Commons, its premises, its services and its staff; and the Members of the House of Commons.
