The Hanover and District Hospital still has its c. Difficile outbreak — but its status may be lifted soon.
The Hanover Hospital’s last remaining C. Difficile patient has died.
This raises the death toll to 7 over the last two outbreaks which impacted 14 patients.
Doctor Neal Stretch tells Bayshore Broadcasting News it has been particularly hard for hospital employees.
Doctor Stretch says they are doing everything possible to battle the bug through best cleaning practices.
This includes scrubbing every room twice a day from top to bottom with a chlorine agent cleaner.
Stretch says in all his years as a physician he has never seen a hospital work as hard as Hanover to rid itself of c-Difficile.
If no new cases crop up — the C. Difficile status will be lifted on June 19th.
That will be 60 days since the last new case.
The first outbreak occurred in November and the second outbreak began in March.
