Calling all kids with a rod and reel.
The Kids, Cops and Canadian Tire event – along with The Durham Fitness Centre is hosting their annual youth fishing derby.
The event takes place today and tomorrow at the pond of the New Tribes Mission of Canada near Durham.
Kids 13 and under are able to fish in the derby for an 8 dollar fee starting at 8 AM both days.
Anyone over 13 can also participate for 20 dollars – although only the younger participants are eligible for the prizes.
The pond has been stocked with over 600 trout – participants are limited to a 3 fish catch.
Officers from West Grey will be on hand all weekend to help the kids land the big one.
The derby is sponsored by Fishing Forever – a not for profit organization to headline fishing – conservation and education.
