Organizers are busy putting the finishing touches on this year’s edition of Heroes on the Move in Saugeen Shores.
Canadian Coordinator Sherine Boville of Southampton, says the week-long summer camp will keep much the same format that it had last year.
Children aged 6 to 12 take part in track and field events, a vacation bible school and some swimming everyday.
All activities are at Saugeen District Secondary School.
Boville says in the daily bible school which lasts about a half-hour, only the basics of the Christian faith are studied in a non-denominational way.
The camp runs from July 12th to 16th but registrations are being taken now.
Boville says they can take up to 200 campers and they have 100 volunteers that work with the kids.
Last year, 170 campers took part.
One of the volunteer instructors is Jamie O’Connor, a teacher from Dundas, Ontario.
He says children will be learning about long jump, high jump, discus and hurdles just to name a few.
However O’Connor says the bigger picture is the children learning about being a friend, participating and trying your best.
Each day runs from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
Registration is 115 dollars for one child and 80 dollars for additional children.
The event is sponsored by the Port of Fellowship Church and the South-Port Pentacostal Church in Saugeen Shores.
Boville says the instructors come from a variety of churches.
