Its a fashion show with a twist.
Members of the Salvation Army Community Council have organized The Thrifty Threads Fashion Show to help raise money to send kids to camp.
City councillor and member of the Sally Ann Council, Deb Haswell, says it costs about 250 dollars to send one child to summer camp.
The local celebrity fashion show will feature members of the community dressed in outfits they chose from the local Thrift Stores in Owen Sound and Port Elgin.
West Hill fashion students students will also be modelling outfits they’ve designed and made themselves.
The Thrifty Threads Fashion Show is being held Wednesday, May 19th at the Bayshore.
Tickets are 25 dollars each with a tax receipt for 20 and can be purchased at the Rocking Horse downtown Owen Sound or from the Salvation Army church office.
The list of ‘celebrities’ includes Mayor Ruth Lovell Stanners and husband Bruce, Grey County OPP Constable Drew Wilder, Larissa Yurkiw — a member of Canada’s Alpine Ski Team — Rogers Day Time host Diane Foulds and Bayshore Broadcasting’s Manny Paiva, Diana Meder and Bob Wallace.
