Hanover and District Hospital staff, patients and visitors will soon have a tranquil garden to spend time in.
Work has already begun on the 100 thousand dollar Garden of Fond Memories.
The garden is a gift from Bill Roseborough in honour of his late wife Karen who served as a nurse at the hospital for 38 years.
He says the says the Garden of Fond Memories is also a tribute to the staff of the Hanover and District Hospital.
Roseborough says it’s his way of thanking hospital staff for the wonderful care his wife received before passing away from an illness last November.
He says it will be a place of beauty and tranquility.
Roseborough says this will be especially important for patients or family members of loved ones who are in the hospital.
Hospital CEO Katrina Wilson says Roseboroughs garden is a gift that will keep on giving.
There will be many opportunities for the public to purchase either a stone or a bench or perhaps a name plaque in honour of a loved one or cherished staff member.
The garden has the potential of raising 3.5 million dollars in future funds through memory donations.
All funds generated will be used to fund hospital projects.
The Garden of Fond Memories should be complete in early June.
It will include trees, flower gardens and a unique dry river of life made up of stones and rocks.
