Bridal season is here and that mean big bowls of frothy punch served up.
In the spirit of the season the Grey Bruce Agriculture and Culinary Association is holding their first ever punchless punch contest.
Volunteer Coordinator Ann Pickles says they association is looking for NON-alcohol recipes for fruit or vegetable punches featuring ONLY local ingredients.
Pickles says the recipes can involve any combination and will be tested in a professional kitchen to narrow it down to the winners.
There is a grand prize for best overall punch and equal first prizes to the best fruit and vegetable punches.
Pickles says if people that are submitting recipes for the contest and are looking for local berries that are out of season – the association has “out of season” frozen local berries available to use.
Pickles hopes that all the recipes entered can be published eventually for everyone to enjoy.
She adds this is a great contest to show a different way to use local produce.
The winners will be announced and then tasted at the Wiarton Field to Fork Feast May 30th.
Deadline for submissions is May 15 and can be emailed to apickles@greybruceaca.com
