Coffin Ridge Vineyard and Winery — located between Owen Sound and Meaford — has opened for its third season of selling locally produced fruit of the vine.
General Manager Mike Todd says they have doubled their production over last year to about 25 hundred cases of wine and are well on their way to reaching their goal of producing six thousand cases of wine.
He says they currently have 25 acres of vines planted with about 15 acres actually producing grapes but expects over the next four years the vineyard will be coming up to full production.
Todd says at this time, they are producing four white wines, one red, one rose and two pear wines.
He says they also are considering branching out into the production of ice wine in the near future.
Todd says this area has the perfect climate for producing ice wine, and has an advantage over the Niagara region because winter arrives earlier in this region.
He says they have produced some ice apple cider which they will be offering up for sale next year.
