An interesting idea, but no thanks.
That’s the response from Wasaga Beach mayor, and Simcoe County Warden Cal Patterson, on the possibility of him running for MP in Simcoe Grey.
He says that he’s been approached by quite a few people from Collingwood, and some from Wasaga Beach, suggesting that he should run for the position.
Patterson stresses that he’s never been approached by the Conservative party, and although the idea peaked his interest, his only focus is being mayor of Wasaga Beach.
He says that any politician has aspirations for different levels of government, but Patterson says he’s quite happy being mayor of Wasaga, and Warden of Simcoe County.
In terms of the ongoing Helena Guergis saga, and who will end up running for the Conservatives in Simcoe Grey, Patterson says that the Conservative party needs to show some respect for the people in Simcoe Grey.
He says that this is a safe riding, as far as Conservatives go, and adds that he would like to see someone run, and highlighted, who was raised inside the riding, as opposed to someone who was dropped in.
