May 9th – 15th is Police week in Ontario.
It is being marked in Owen Sound with a series of events.
Today — on Monday May 10th — Owen Sound police are giving guided tours of their building on 2nd Avenue west from 4 PM to 6 PM.
Tomorrow — the Chief’s Citation awards will be presented to three members of the community who have demonstrated bravery or an extraordinary committment to community service.
Inspector Vince Wurfel says Wednesday is “Chief for a day” in Owen Sound.
One Grade 5 student from an Owen Sound school will be sworn in as Chief for the day.
The winner is selected based on their submission of a self-created poster related to traffic safety.
The winner spends the day with Owen Sound police, getting a behind the scenes look at a day in the life of apolice officer, a close up look at police equipment and lunch with the Chief.
On Thursday, it is Seniors Day.
From 10 AM until 1:30 PM, a fraud awareness presentation will be presented along with building tours for seniors.
