Farm Credit Canada is looking to give money to deserving capital projects in rural Canada.
The annual AgriSpirit Fund application process is now open until June 14th.
FCC district director Perry Wilson says registered charities and non-profit organizations are encouraged to apply.
Wilson says the fund is all about making life better for people in rural communities, but the project itself doesn’t necessarily have to be rural in nature.
Wilson says they have handed money out for projects such as emergency services equipment; playgrounds; recreation centres and care homes.
For instance the Walkerton and District Hospital Foundation has received money in the past to help in the construction of the Brockton Medical Clinic.
The Walkerton Agricultural Society also received funds to help with new roofing costs to their building.
Awards of up to 25 thousand dollars will be handed out to those projects that are chosen.
Wilson says last year, FCC received over 13 hundred applications and 115 community groups shared in one million dollars in funding across Canada.
Any project chosen must be completed before December 2012.
The selected projects this year will be announced this December.
