Bruce Grey Owen Sound MPP Bill Murdoch stopped at the Hanover Lawn Bowling Club Friday to deliver a cheque.
The $28,500 grant is from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
Murdoch joined OTF representative Kevin Eccles in congratulating Lawn Club members on their successful grant application.
This is welcome news for the members of the lawn bowling club.
Murdoch says the funding will be used to upgrade the clubhouse and allow the historic club to continue offering an enjoyable summer sport to the community.
Over the next year, the OTF grant will be used to fix the 100-year-old club, purchase turf roller and lawn mower to maintain the playing surface and improvements will be made throughout the club house.
The roof will be reshingled and washrooms will be renovated.
Established in 1909, the mandate of the Hanover Lawn Bowling Club is to further the sport of lawn bowling.
The Club provides recreational and competitive activities for members of the community, particularly for seniors.
It also participates in the annual Hanover Seniors Games and regularly hosts the District Seniors Games.
