Expect to see more restaurant patios this summer in the Town of Goderich.
Mayor John Grace says the town is waiving any fees and licences required for eateries and cafes to expand their operations to the walkways outside their establishments.
The majority of Ontario is entering Phase 2 of re-opening on Friday, as rates of COVID-19 continue their slow decline.
Along with the allowance of restaurant patios which can allow for social distancing, the province is also allowing gatherings of no more than ten people, up from five.
Dining indoors will still be prohibited during Phase 2, but restaurants will be allowed to continue take-out and deliveries options.
Grace says Goderich Town Hall wanted to eateries to return to normal as quickly as possible, and decided to waive any fees related to patio expansions.
Any businesses wanting to inquire about patio expansions are invited to contact Goderich Town Hall at 519-524-8344.
