It should be a busy morning at the Stop 21 Restaurant in Southampton on Highway 21 just north of Peel Street.
The restaurant’s new owner Karen Nickle is opening her doors at 9 AM for people to come by and pick up – free – equipment, dishes, utensils and a variety of other material from the original restaurant inventory.
She’s hoping any church groups, other charitable organizations, or just anybody who needs something, will come by and pick up what they need.
Nickle held a renovation sale this week of original restaurant equipment and materials and says anything left over as of this morning is available free from 9 AM till Noon.
She says it is just her way of helping out people in her new community, in at least a small way.
Nickle hopes to have the restaurant fully renovated, inside and out, and back in business by the middle of June.
She says the motel also will be reopening when the restaurant does but the renovations on that side will not be completed for probably another 12 months.
Nickle says when the restaurant opens she hopes to hire somewhere between 12 and 15 staff with many of them coming from the local area.
