Despite another bump in the cost of the new Regional Rec Centre in Owen Sound, the Family Y fund-raising goal remains the same.
CEO Gayle Graham says their goal is based on a fund-raising feasiblity study which estimates how much they can raise for the project.
And Graham says no matter what the Scenic city is eventually on the hook for, their goal will remain 5 million dollars.
The jump in the cost of the facility marks the second time that the cost has increased recently — adding 2.1 million to the cost in the latest estimate, and 6 months to the length of the project.
On Tuesday night, Owen Sound council voted unanimously to proceed with the more than 38 million dollar development despite the new snag.
The big concern remains, if the project isn’t near completion by the target date of March 31st, 2011 — the city could lose out on grant money from Ottawa and Queens Park.
Right now, the estimate is Owen Sound will have to come up with 9.35 million dollars locally for the Rec Centre project, but that could balloon to 22 million without government grants.
