The verdict is in for two Wingham-area people involved in a murder-for-hire plot.
A whirlwind trial of just over two weeks is over and Serena Benninger and Anthony Terpstra have been found guilty on all counts.
The two were charged with counselling and conspiracy to commit murder.
Crown Attorney Bob Morris says in this case, justice was done.
He says the jury probably took a good amount of time looking at the intent of the accused, and more specifically the defense of Tony Terpstra, where he said he was pretending the entire time.
Morris says this verdict is likely a huge relief for Sheila Terpstra — the intended victim — because if the police hadn’t become involved then she may have actually been murdered.
The two guilty parties will remain under their existing bail conditions and will return to be sentenced June 28th.
The jury took about nine hours to reach their final verdict.
