Owen Sound Police are investigating yet another fraud involving the sale of a vehicle over the internet.
A Scenic City woman told police on Friday that she had made a down-payment on a vehicle she was buying through an on-line service.
The victim used a money transfer company and wired funds to the United Kingdom — thinking she was sending the down payment to an agent for the seller of the car.
The vehicle in question was never delivered.
According to the Canadian Anti-fraud Centre — this is a common fraud that uses advertising in legitimate newspapers, magazines and on-line sites.
The centre suggests you should confirm the sellers name, street address and telephone number.
If the car, truck or trailer is too good of a deal, it may be a fraud.
The centre also suggests that the buyer never agree to wire funds to a seller through a money-transfer service.
Once the cash has been wired, the victim will never get it back.
