A 36 year old man has been sentenced to two years of house arrest in connection with a crash that killed two military recruits near Meaford more than three years ago.
Isaac Christink of Ottawa was found guilty of two counts of dangerous driving causing death and received the sentence this week in Owen Sound.
The Crown had sought jail time for the former military recruit.
A 22 year old Nova Scotia woman and an 18 year old man from the Ottawa Valley were killed in the Meaford area crash on November 10th, 2006.
Court heard a vehicle with four military recruits lost control on Grey Road 112 and crashed into a guardrail.
The two victims were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected from the vehicle.
Christink — who was the driver — and another passenger were not injured.
Court also heard the vehicle was travelling at a rate of 180 to 200 kilometres an hour.
