A gradual reopening of Ontario’s postsecondary education sector is in the works.
Starting in July, limited in-person education and training can restart for students who weren’t able to graduate due to Covid-19 closures.
This first phase will be for students in essential, frontline, and high labour market demand areas, like nursing, personal support workers, engineering and other critical professions.
Then in September, all students will get the opportunity to attend postsecondary education through virtual learning, in-class instruction, or hybrid formats.
Its hoped the limited summer reopening will help individual institutions prepare for the fall term by ensuring proper health and safety protocols are in place.

We are working with colleges, universities, Indigenous Institutes and private career colleges to reopen campuses on a limited basis. The reopening will start in July to support priority in-person education and training. https://t.co/P6YQ8mf73z@RossRomanoSSM pic.twitter.com/j8B7E7O7fY
