Premier Dalton McGuinty is paying little heed to protesters who want to delay the introduction of more industrial wind turbines in the province.
People from dozens of small communities want a moratorium on new turbines until more studies on the impact on human health are conducted.
Approximately 200 to 250 people rallied at Queens Park Wednesday.
Lorrie Gillis of Flesherton is one of the people at the rally in support of a motion by a Conservative MPP.
She says the motion calls for a moratorium on any further wind turbines being built, until an independent 3rd party has a look at the impact they have on the health of nearby residents.
But the Premier says wind turbines have been used for decades to generate electricity without any serious health implications.
McGuinty says a moratorium doesn’t make sense under the circumstances.
Gillis says the Premier may be ignoring their concerns, but he shouldn’t be. She says the issue transcends party lines.
Gillis says the health of residents is more important than politics.
