Employers in Bruce and Grey still have time to take advantage of a summer job wage subsidy program offered through the Owen Sound and Area Family YMCA.
Through the SJS Program, employers are reimbursed two dollars an hour for wages for hiring a summer student.
YMCA Summer Job Service Coordinator Michele Leibold says this year they can make that a reality for 810 students thanks to provincial funding; double the amount from two years ago.
Leibold says while some money is already chewed up – there are still some funds to encourage the hiring of a summer student.
She says an eligible student is one between the ages of 15 and 30, returning to school in the fall, and who can legally work in Ontario.
Applications are available through YMCA Community and Employment Services and will be accepted until money runs out.
Students can find out what jobs are available this summer through on line at www.ymcaowensound.on.ca by clicking on the summer job bank.
The SJS program has been running in Bruce and Grey for the last ten years.
