The crown in the murder for hire trial of two Wingham residents wrapped up its case in Goderich court Friday.
On day five of the trial, the Crown finished up its case with witness Sheila Terpstra.
She’s the intended victim of the murder for hire plan that her husband Anthony Terpstra and co-accused Serena Benninger are accused of plotting.
She testified to having her own affair with a man the Terpstra’s participated in a couple swap with.
When Anthony found out about that affair, he addmitted to having his own affair with the spouse of that couple.
The crown asked about her life insurance policy — which is 172 thousand dollars — and about Anthony Terpstra’s two million dollar buyout of his family farm, Cranbrook Farms.
She was asked about the so called “hot tub incident”.
That was the first time she caught Anthony Terpstra and Serena Benninger together.
Sheila testified to fighting with Benninger.
She told jurors that Benninger tried to strangle her, and wouldn’t leave their home.
Other witnesses Friday included, Serena Benningers daughter Charlene. Former co-workers of Terpstra’s, Ted Gray and Loyd Reaman.
Reaman testified Anthony Terpstra asked him if he knew where to get a hitman. The crowns other witness was 41 year-old Angela Ventura, who’s Serena Benninger’s sister-in-law and intended victim Sheila Terpstra’s best friend.
Ventura said Anthony and Sheila Terpstra had problems dating back a few years.
The trial resumes on Monday back in Goderich Court.
