29 people from across Canada are off to Paraguay today to distribute thousands of goods collected through the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox program.
There are 22 people going from Alberta, two from B-C and five people from Ontario involved in the 10 day trip.
In Grey and Bruce counties alone, over five thousand shoeboxes were collected last Fall.
They are filled with toys, school supplies, hygiene items and candies for children in countries that a ravaged by war, famine or poverty.
One of the 29 volunteers heading to Paraguay is teacher Kate Wilson of Sauble Beach.
She has been involved in the Christian relief organization for 9 years, but this is her first trip to distribute the boxes.
Although it is a 10 day trek, Wilson says it takes basically 2 days to get there and 2 days to get home again.
She had to raise the 33 hundred dollar cost of her own flight to Paraguay to take part in this step of the program.
