Staff from the Ontario Ministry of Education will be at Sacred Heart Elementary School in Mildmay today.
They want to know how the small school has successfully managed to maintain high provincial test scores for the past three years.
The school has been nominated for the province’s Schools On the Move award.
It recognizes schools that have been able to achieve and maintain high EQAO test scores year after year.
This is the first time a school within the Bruce Grey Catholic Board has been nominated for this honour.
Board spokesperson Patricia Morly says the Ministry of Education staff will interview the principal, teachers, support staff, students, parents, trustees and administrators.
Morly says if Sacred Heart is selected as one of the 30 schools in Ontario to receive this recognition, it will mean additional Ministry dollars for the school.
She is optimistic about Sacred Heart’s chances.
Morly adds the school has a winning formula with hardworking staff and students and a program that caters to the children’s education needs.
