The private investigator whose allegations about former cabinet minister Helena Guergis led to her ouster from the Conservative caucus says the RCMP have begun a full-fledged investigation.
Derrick Snowdy says he met with an RCMP inspector on Wednesday.
Snowdy says he gave the Mounties all the electronic and paper files that he collected while investigating a Toronto businessman connected to Guergis’ husband.
Snowdy adds he has information that links Guergis and husband Rahim Jaffer to offshore accounts and alleged tax evasion.
He says the RCMP told him they are in the middle of an investigation.
The Mounties did not immediately return calls about the matter.
