If you have a green thumb, but not the plot of land to use it, then the town of Saugeen Shores may have the answer for you.
Manager of Culture and Recreation Jayne Jagelewski says the town is starting an Adopt-a-Garden program.
Jagelewski says they’re looking for groups, organizations and families to adopt one of the 11 flower gardens in the town that need some tender loving care.
She says the program will require a commitment from any group to take care of, perhaps plan out, the municipal garden they have chosen, from May to October.
Each site will have water service nearby.
More information on the program is going to be provided tonight at 7 PM at a public meeting in the Rotary Room at the Plex in Port Elgin.
Special speakers will be on hand to explain how the program is run and what is expected.
Jagelewski says like the Adopt A Highway program, the garden program will look to have people keep their chosen area clean, but they can also plan how the garden should look throughout the growing season.
