The trial for two Wingham-area people charged with counselling and conspiracy to commit murder moves into its third day on Thursday.
An undercover police officer who posed as a hitman was cross-examined Wednesday by two different defense lawyers, representing Anthony Terpstra and Serena Benninger.
Benninger’s lawyer Phil Cornish argued that the recorded conversations she had with the officer were designed to incriminate her and Terpstra was actually behind the plot.
Terpstra’s lawyer, David Humphrey argued that Terpstra tried to back out of the plot before any arrests took place on March 12, 2009.
The Crown will call Owen Curtis to the stand on Thursday as he claims Benninger contacted him to try and find someone to kill Sheila Terpstra.
