Ontario Education Minister Stephen Lecce says he has tested negative for Covid-19 after coming into contact with someone who has tested positive for the virus.
Lecce tweeted out the below statement this afternoon.
This is why Premier Doug Ford and Health Minister Christine Elliott didn’t participate in today’s daily Provincial briefing. Ford and Elliott are being tested now as well.
This afternoon Ross Romano, Minister of Colleges and Universities had this to say about the development.
“I can tell you that I know our Premier is acting out of an extreme abundance of caution and he wants to ensure that everyone on the premises here at Queen’s Park is safe and this is simply a measure being taken out of an abundance of caution given the nature of the circumstances that we find ourselves in,” said Romanow.
The Minister found out about the developments moments before he took to the podium this afternoon to unveil the first part of a framework to reopen post-secondary education in the Province.
