Earth Day may be coming this Thursday but for Saugeen Shores it’s a week-long celebration.
It starts today with a week-long clean-up campaign.
Saugeen Shores Manager of Culture and Recreation Jayne Jagelewski says she’s calling on all schools, groups and service clubs, along with individuals to help make the town a cleaner place.
Jagelewski says all you have to do is sign up with the town and get your Pitch-In kit.
She says if you a closer look at some of our ball diamonds, soccer pitches and parks, you come to realize just how much garbage has accumulated over the winter months.
Jagelewski says this coming Saturday — there are three special clean-ups.
A river access clean-up will be held at Denny’s Dam which there will also be a Port Elgin beach clean-up at the McGrath Pavilion and a Southampton beach clean-up where volunteers will meet at the big flag.
