A public meeting was held yesterday in the town of Blue Mountains on a plan to extend the life of the dump.
Blue Mountains Solid waste Manager Jeff Fletcher says they only have about 3 years left before the landfill is full.
The meeting looked at a plan to expand the landfill by some 100 thousand cubic metres, and to mine it to gain an additional 100 thousand cubic metres of space.
The meeting was part of an environmental process, as the Blue Mountains tries to get more life out of the current landfill site.
