Food will be on the menu in more ways than one at the annual general meeting of the Grey Bruce Agriculture and Culinary Association this Sunday.
It is taking place at Grey Roots in Owen Sound, starting at Noon.
Association spokesman Freeman Boyd says besides the election of officers to the association board, they also will be planning ahead for the upcoming summer.
He says thanks to a Trillium Grant, the Association has been able to hire a Volunteer Co ordinator who will be working hard to set up a network of volunteers throughout Grey Bruce Communities.
Boyd says the success of the Associations efforts to promote and support the local food movement is dependent on this network of volunteers.
He also says they will be looking the success and development of local farmers markets in Grey Bruce.
Boyd says there will be several new markets starting up this summer, including one in Clarksburg, Markdale and Lucknow with the possibility of one opening up in Hanover as well.
That brings to 17 the number of farmers markets in the region, up from six back in 2005.
Boyd also says the managers of the area farmers markets recently held a meeting here in Owen Sound to talk about ways sharing resources and possibly working on some joint promotions.
