There is controversy over comments made by Brocktons mayor concerning the shared Saugeen Municipal Airport.
Hanover Councilor and Airport Commissioner Selwyn Hicks is trying to dispel the rumors that are flying through town regarding the future of the Saugeen Municipal airport.
Despite earlier comments made by Brockton Mayor Charlie Bagnato, Hicks says there are no plans at this time to sell or lease the airport.
A 72 thousand dollar drop in revenue at the airport prompted Brocktons concern over the airport.
Hicks says like everything else the airport has been hit by the recession.
The loss of the Interforest plane and the fuel it would have consumed has also made a big impact on the bottom line.
However, Hicks says like the rest of the economy he expects things to pick up soon.
And while Hicks cant imagine selling or leasing the airport he says Brockton may have point.
He says it would be a good exercise to know exactly what the airport is worth especially from an accounting perspective.
The next Saugeen Municipal Airport Board meeting takes place April 21st.
The Saugeen Municipal Airport is a shared venture between Hanover, Brockton and West Grey.
