After a day of email comments from ousted federal cabinet minister Helena Guergis, today, a vow of silence from her lawyer.
In an email to several news outlets — including Bayshore Broadcasting News –Howard Rubel says there will be no more comments from Guergis on the allegations against her.
Rubel disparages the source of a story running on CTV and the Toronto Star about Guergis and her husband, Rahim Jaffer and their dealings with a financier who is now facing fraud charges.
Rubel says the circumstances of the allegations “speak for themselves.”
The latest in the Guergis/Jaffer affair is an allegation the disgraced political couple bought interest in offshore companies in Belize to somehow profit from the rising stock value of companies getting federal government money for developing green technologies.
That allegation in a front page story in today’s Toronto Star, which quotes the same source as a CTV story earlier this week; a private investigator who says he went to Conservative party officials after hearing stories about Rahim Jaffer and Helena Guergis from the same financier.
Jaffer dined with the night of his arrest on cocaine possession and drunk driving charges.
