A program that helps funds programs to keep area seniors active is drawing near a close for applications.
The New Horizons for Seniors programs is a federally funded initiative that has grown considerably since 2004.
Conservative MP – Bruce-Grey – Owen Sound Larry Miller says the program now helps fund programs in community participation and leadership, capital assistance and elder abuse awareness.
Miller says the stem of funding that helps the community partnership and leadership stream will be closing April 16th.
Miller says this program is very important because it helps fund programs to help seniors get active in the community.
Miller says this program is not only beneficial in the province but in Grey Bruce on the whole as the population in the region is known as a retirement destination and the overall senior population is growing.
Miller says there are many programs that fail in popularity but this is not one of them as it is growing in popularity.
