A Hanover teen has done it again.
17 year old Megan Schlorff is heading to Houston Texas this week to compete in the International Sustainable World Energy Environment, & Engineering Project Olympiad.
She is a member of Team Canada, and is one of three teens to represent our nation.
Schlorff has also been selected to be the Canadian flag bearer during the opening ceremonies.
She will be competing with the same project she took to Paris last year “Down the Drain, Only to Resurface Again”.
Her project determined that antibacterial compounds found in many personal care products are not being fully filtered out of the water at waste water treatment plants before being released into the environment.
Schlorff spent a year working on the project and says even now she continues to add to it.
About 500 international students will be competing for approximately 400 thousand dollars in cash prizes and scholarships.
Along with the excitement of the competition, Schlorff is also looking forward to taking in some of sites Houston has to offer.
