The work is done and now it’s up to the jury.
Artisans from throughout the region have submitted their works to the Southampton Art School, Gallery and Shop for the 8th annual Feast for the Eyes Juried Art Exhibition.
Director Aly Boltman each artist had to pay 10 dollars and a non-perishable food item for each of three entries they were allowed by put in.
Boltman says the money will be split between the Southampton Art Society and the Salvation Army food bank and all of the food will go to the Salvation Army.
Tonight is the opening gala and awards ceremony.
Boltman says everyone is invited and all they ask is that each person bring a non-perishable food item for the food bank.
The Gala runs from 7 PM to 9 PM at the art gallery in the Old Town Hall in Southampton.
Boltman says awards totalling over 15 hundred dollars will be given to non-professional artists in 10 categories, as chosen by the three person jury which includes Michelle Le Chien, assistant Curator/Registrar at the Tom Thomson Art Gallery.
The works by the artisans will be for sale for the most part and will be on display at the art gallery until May 10th.
Media includes water colours, pottery, jewellery, photography and sculpture just to name a few.
