125 tests for alpha radiation from workers at Bruce Power A, Unit 1 reactor re-build are now back.
Bruce Power spokesperson John Peevers says the results show in every test that the numbers are below industry norms.
Nuclear workers are not to be exposed to more than five thousand millirem of alpha radiation in a year.
The tests are being conducted at a lab in Chalk River, along with two other labs in the U-S in Washington state and in South Carolina.
Peevers says the company has extended the invitation to be tested, even if it’s just for the workers own peace of mind.
As a result, Peevers expects the number of those being tested to go over the 195 originally reported by the company.
He says since they’ve added the two American labs in the testing process, results are coming back much faster.
Peevers says the company has been responding to any and all questions from employees and will continue to give updates to test results as they become available.
The radiation issue arose last November where workers were doing some clean-up in the unit.
