A celebration of local food will take place in Owen Sound tomorrow, when area farmers will present a three course dinner composed of food produced in this region.
Desboro Farmer Sean McGivern is organizing the dinner which will be held at the Grey Granite club on Wednesday.
He says the pork will be coming from his farm, the beef will be coming from Twin Creek farm ear Meaford and the turkey will be coming from the Dick’s farm in the Markdale area.
Organic vegetables will be coming from Fannings organic farm in the Baden area.
McGivern says this is a great opportunity for city residents to meet and eat with the people who put food on their table on a regular basis.
He says in the Grey Bruce area there has been a noticeable increase in the number of small farms being operated in this region over the past few years.
McGivern says a lot of former city residents are moving to the region to take up farming as a second career and are doing it on a small scale and being profitable at the same time.
McGivern himself operates his own mixed farm in the Desboro area and also runs Grass Roots Organics and Eco farm
Tickets are available at Grass Roots Organics or the Around the Sound Market in Owen Sound.
