It’s Archives Awareness Week at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre in Southampton.
Archivist Anne Marie Collins says the event runs from Tuesday, April 6th to Sunday, April 11th.
Collins says the museum’s mandate is to house and preserve records pertaining to Bruce County and they want to share them with everyone.
She says if anyone is working on their family history, then they’ll want to take advantage of the service this week.
Collins says there is free admission to the reading room and local and oral histories of the area will be given each at 2 PM.
She says one of the big events is the guided tour through the inner sanctum of the archives which is generally closed to the public except for this tour on this week.
Collins says this tour takes place each morning during Archives Week at 10 AM.
In addition on Thursday, April 8th the Bruce County Genealogical Society will present an Introduction to Family History.
The meeting is at 7 PM.
