Police have issued a warning about counterfeit money in the Kincardine area.
South Bruce OPP report fake money was used to purchase items at Kincardine stores this past week.
Police have different tips on how to spot counterfeit money.
Step one: Inspect raised lettering in Bank of Canada — along the left side of the bill and in the coat of arms at the bottom of the bill.
Step two: Look for the amount of the bill in the dark band above the coat of arms.
Step three: On five dollar bills check for concentric circles around Sir Wilfred Laurier’s eyes.
And step four — watch for the maple leafs to change colour as you tilt the bill.
