The municipal election may be seven months away but preparations are well underway in Hanover.
Hanover residents are going to have to cast their ballots in the mailbox this Fall.
Despite a few glitches in the 2006 municipal election — the town is sticking with the vote by mail system.
This will be the second time Hanover has used this voting method.
CAO Mike Dunlop says the mail in ballot system resulted in an increase in electoral voting.
In the 2006 election — 45 per cent of eligible residents voted, which was an 18 per cent increase over 2003.
Dunlop believes convenience was a major factor in the voter increase.
Dunlop says the vote by mail method provides residents with a two week opportunity to mull over their choices and decide.
He adds improvements and advancements have been made to the voter kit to eliminate any confusion this time around.
This includes a redesigned voter kit to eliminate ballot and voter declaration confusion, an ability to produce or replace voter kits electronically and instantly as well as the ability to produce voter lists of those who have not yet voted.
Hanover has budgeted 30 thousand dollars for the election.
The municipal election will be held Monday October 25th.
