Music Fest is moving to Owen Sound.
The first annual massive music concert was held at the Wiarton airport last summer — but this year it will be held at Kelso Beach in Owen Sound.
The event is scheduled for July 3rd and the headliners include Hedley, Matthew Good, Our Lady Peace, Finger Eleven, and David Wilcox.
Producer Mark Higgins believes the event will attract over 12 thousand fans.
Higgins says last year’s event in Wiarton was a huge success but he feels Kelso Beach works more strategically for the artists and the organizers.
Higgins notes the Kelso Beach venue is also similar to the site where he holds similar concerts in Belleville with the water as a back-drop.
He notes the artists are also excited about working together on the same stage.
Higgins also hopes the one day concert becomes an annual event because there is nothing else like it in this region.
Higgins has teamed up with restaurant owner Brian Johnson, who is the Site Manager for the concert.
Johnson — who owns Kelsey’s and Montana’s restaurants — says this will help put the Scenic City on the map as an entertainment venue.
The first annual Big Music Fest at the Wiarton airport — with the Tragically Hip as the headliner — attracted around 15 thousand people.
Tickets for this year’s show are $ 49.50 each and go on sale on Thursday.
The event begins at 1 PM on July 3rd and lasts until about 10:45 PM.
